To compose is to read what the building offers and what someone will make of it, then hold every choice to one intention, from interior architecture to the last fitting. Penthouse in Griffintown, Montreal, above the Lachine Canal. The living room and kitchen share one open plan, made for receiving. A deep sofa in ochre velvet faces the windows. Oak cabinetry lines the wall, and a lit cove softens the ceiling. Stone holds the centre.

ROYALMOUNT INCLUSIVE RESTROOM
Inclusive restroom at Royalmount, Montreal, open to every visitor. Long basins run the length of the room, lit by vertical lines of light. Mirrored grooming stations stand apart, each with its own counter. A video wall and a patterned floor turn a quick stop into a pause.

Beauty and wellness clinic at Royalmount, Montreal, built around the practice of Dr. Mirko Gilardino. Visitors enter through a travertine frame, between retail niches lit in coral. A curved steel desk receives them. Treatment rooms lie beyond. Care begins at the threshold.

35,000 sq. ft. of beauty retail at Royalmount, Montreal. Inside, a lounge where clients sit down and take their time. Rounded sofas in moss green meet planters full of leaves. Nested arches lead deeper into the store. Shopping, at a slower pace.

MADAME BOVARY LAVAL
Restaurant at Centropolis, Laval, planned for more than one kind of evening. Distinct zones hold a table for two, a group, or a long night at the bar. Red velvet banquettes line the room. Backlit leaves glow behind the tables. Candlelight does the rest.
How it holds up
Vision without buildability is a drawing. We work the other way.
Structural and mechanical engineers come in at conception, read alongside light and proportion. Never as constraints disguised afterward. It's the one point we don't bend on, because a constraint that arrives late takes its revenge on site.
We test the composition with the people who will build it. Then the client walks through the space in virtual reality, before a single wall is touched. They look, they hesitate, they ask. We listen again.
Each trade receives its own score. Every note is played.
Interior design is the muscle. The bone belongs to architects and engineers.
What the client leaves with is a place, and an eye. We don't ask to be trusted. We show why a proportion holds, why that wall stays, and why that's good news. Clients finish a project better decision-makers than they started it.

The Studio
When The Experience Creates The Experience. Yours.
Art and fashion forged Richard Benoit. One taught him to compose, the other that a concept has to live on a body. Construction sites then taught him to speak the language of every trade.
In 2013, he founded Chrome Design Studio in Montréal to make creativity answer to reality. Every line is drawn to be built, and to hold for all the years a place is lived in. For clients, that means one studio from the first meeting to delivery, and a place measured against the life they will lead in it.
For more than a decade, the studio has specialized in interior design and interior architecture for new construction and complete renovations, in Montréal and abroad. Each project has taught the next, and the next one is yours. It begins with a conversation.
